Ivonne Ortiz -
Since 1999, Ivonne Ortiz has been committed to addressing violence against women in North Carolina. A Certified Victim
Services Practitioner through NCVAN, she possesses a unique combination of expertise in organizing communities of color,
training, advocacy, and nonprofit management.
Ivonne was instrumental in the creation of comprehensive and culturally sensitive programming for immigrant families in
North Carolina. In 2005, Ivonne received the "Comadre en la Lucha Award" one Arte Sana’s peer-selected
National Latina Victim Advocate Awards and this opened doors for national work with statewide coalitions and groups.
On April 2007, she was recognized by the North Carolina Division of Community Corrections’ Victim Notification Program
during their 3rd Annual Recognition Program; for her commitment to victims of crime in North Carolina. A native of
Puerto Rico, Ivonne attended the University of Puerto Rico were she majored in Sociology with a minor in Communications.
