- Lourdes Báez-Kaman serves as Youth Empowerment Specialist at LifeWorks, where she has been employed for seven years. Although she works primarily with youth, her duties also include empowering their parents, especially bringing about greater awareness of the availability of community support services.

- Since Lourdes grew up in Mexico, she brings a special empathy to working with immigrant women especially those having been victims of domestic violence.

- Having worked in a program called, Dos Culturas, that brought together Hispanic and African American Students at Huston-Tillotson College, she has both bicultural and bilingual skills.

- As both a singer and an artist Lourdes truly believes in the healing power of art. While serving on the board of directors of the Borders Learning Community, a nonprofit organization, she learned how the Readers Theatre was utilized to develop communication skills as well as instill civic values. Lourdes also currently serves on the board of directors of another nonprofit organization, Nueva Alianza which motivates youth to develop their musical talent. As Arte Sana’s Board President, Lourdes continues to open doors of collaboration to incorporate risk reduction presentations and pláticas into local youth and immigrant advocacy programs.
