| Arte Sana Board of Directors Rodolpho T. Briseño, Musician, Substance Abuse & Cultural Competency Rodolfo Briseño began his career as a drug abuse counselor and teacher with the Fort Worth Independent School District in 1971 where he taught three years at the elementary level and two years at the junior high level. After discovering that half of the elementary students were coming to school “high,” he began organizing alternative activities for the youth on his own, as there were no prevention/intervention or treatment programs available in those early years. Thirty-one years later, he has continued to be involved in the field of substance abuse having worked primarily with the Latino, Native American and African American populations. These populations have included the sub-cultures of drug addicts (youth, adults & senior citizens), drug dealers, gangs, prostitutes, battered women, sexually abused women and children, migrant farm workers, rural and urban populations and families. | |
