Message: As an advocate and a counselor I created this heart in honor of all the young survivors of sexual assault whose stories and faces lay present in my memory. My heart speaks to the complex struggle I have witnessed in young survivors. The struggle between swallowing the pain and even denying what happened -- hoping to conceal its ugliness, its heaviness -- or perhaps, releasing the pain and the fear, allowing these feelings to break through the barriers she's built around them. All the time just wanting to be the child she was before.
