A year ago, Benné told me about the "Opening Closed Doors" Project. I thought what a fortunate group of women to be involved with a talented artist/therapist.

A couple of months ago, Benné approached me to create a dress based on my personal experience with domestic rape. I was surprised. I had shared this information with her on one occasion and never thought of myself as a candidate for this project. I always thought of "those other rape survivors".

For Someone Special was created as a reminder that someone you love and trust can rape you. And that you can survive as I did.
